They say things come in threes. After the success of winning “Creative Event of the Year” at the Event Awards, we have gone onto win “Best Product Launch” and the “Grand Prix” at the UK Events Awards ceremony in October, all for Hyundai’s ix35 launch.

Nominees were judged on understanding of the client brief and objectives, innovative thinking and creativity, and strategic planning with tangible results proving effectiveness. We delivered on all fronts and are on an unstoppable winning streak, hoping to win more awards on 26th November at the Eventia Awards. We have been nominated for “Best Product Launch” for Hyundai ix35 and “Best Team Building Event” for United Biscuits. We are out to prove we are the exception to the rule of three.

I consider the success of our events has been down to three things (seems to be a theme here) – staff, size and attention to detail. Although we are up against the ‘big boys’, it’s our size and culture which ensures our success. We can develop really strong bonds with our clients and understand their business and needs. We’re fanatical about the details which I believe delivers the tangible results for our clients.

Often I have to sit down and consciously think about an idea to discuss and wonder if I really have something of interest to say. This time I can hardly hold myself back!

We were awarded the “Creative Event of the Year” award by the Event Awards for our work on the Hyundai ix35 product launch.

This is a result that I’m hugely impressed with, and I think speaks volumes of the calibre of our work here and the quality of the staff I have working with me. Sorry about the ‘big-ups’ to both myself and team here reader but it’s hard for me to contain my excitement about what we’ve already achieved and where we’re heading for future success.

From inception to delivery working on this campaign really cemented my belief in the concept of hiring staff with a fantastic approach to life – both professionally and personally. All members of the team who helped to bring this campaign to life really toiled over every minute detail in order to deliver an event that ‘surprised and delighted’ – an objective set by Hyundai to reinforce to the market that their new car was something to be (nicely!) surprised by – offering fuel economy, build quality, styling and standard features you wouldn’t usually expect for that cost and type of vehicle.

By design then, our experiential marketing campaign reflected and reinforced Hyundai’s new positioning through ‘surprising and delighting’ journalists at the at the event. Flipping all preconceived ideas about what a car launch should be like on its head, we did away with long formal presentations, and replaced them with self guided presentations and ample opportunity for one to ones with Hyundai staff. We remodeled a Travelodge into a boutique hotel and my favourite detail had chavs at traffic lights paying for the privilege to clean journalists windscreens.

As a natural process of thought then I wondered how we’ve got to the position where it’s considered standard or some kind of ‘rule’ whereby we accept trade-offs, most notable the typical quality for cost (often exorbitant and in my humble opinion, unwarranted) or between practicality and beauty? Function and form are both important and I think the approach that Hyundai is taking is fantastic.

Being nimble and not sacrificing tangible results for pure pizzaz has always been the basis on which we’ve operated – a harder position but one that reaps rewards…results now speaking for themselves!

Horn tooting over. (But not for Hyundai).

Apart from Saucers playing international rugby we have also been having some sucess at grass roots level

Wednesday night mixed touch at Clapham Common.

This is the first year with these players playing together, after losing the initial grading match the team found its feet and quickly jumped to the top of the Social B League. Success breeds success and the team stayed at the top winning every game, averaging 7 tries a game. Tomorrow night is the final where we play Touchy Feelies who we bet 5 – 1 earlier in the season, details here.

Thursday night mixed touch at Clapham Common.

This team is in their second year of playing together and it’s showed. We’ve topped the league with an unbeaten season. The team finish the season on 36 tries which was 10 tries higher than the next best team. The defence was just as good only letting in 11 tries, 8 less than anyone else. We had a great evening watching Jo play for Ireland in the Womens Rugby World Cup, she was awesome!  Ireland the underdogs defended really well but could not hold of the English team.

Ireland play again today against USA which will be another tough match, you can follow it live here.

This Friday a bunch of the Chillisauce team are off to support Jo O’Sullivan from the office as she plays for Ireland against England in the first pool games of the Womens Rugby World Cup.

Hugely proud of her, which as an Englishman leaves me slightly confused who to cheer for.

More on Jo and how she manages to juggle being a professional sports person and having a hectic full time job here,

Find our more about the tournament and follow the results here.
