The Chillisauce team enjoyed an eco-friendly weekend at the historic Down Hall in Hertfordshire thanks to the Veladail Hotel Group. Suzy (pictured, right), Isabel and Ian packed their best hemp clothes and biodegradable shoes and had a fantastic time.

On the Friday night it was ‘nice to see you, to see you nice’ as the assembled agents and their partners played ‘The Generation Game’. After a series of fun-packed games including cake decorating and a music quiz, and some that Brucie didn’t deem suitable for family viewing like blindfold shot drinking, there were only two teams left with a chance of winning the much-coverted hamper full of prizes. Unfortunately it was friend against friend as Suzy and her boyfriend Diarmuid’s team faced off against a team including Isabel, Ian and his fiancee Sandy.

Even more unfortunate than that, the last round was a dance off. The Chillisauce crew are no funky movers and the thought of having to dance on stage in front of the assembled masses brought all of them out in a cold sweat.

Diarmuid, who danced with all the grace of a drunken crane fly, temporarily disabled the instructor by stamping on her foot as the rest of the team jumped around like a middle-aged S Club 7. Isabel and Ian’s team then tried to up the ante by unleashing some moves that would have John Travola turning in his grave, if he was dead.

The crowd went wild, but crowned Suzy’s team the winners. They were delighted to get their hands on the luxury hamper which included such superb goodies as a chocolate santa, cheese and a clock radio.

The following morning tree planting at Bushey Golf Club had been arranged, but as the weather was terrible and the golf course resembled a lake, it was cancelled. However, the local press had turned up to cover the tree planting so Suzy’s winning team from the quiz were handed bright pink fork and trowls and forced out into a monsoon for the gratifcation of the Hertfordshire paparazzi!

Will, Ian and Tom headed down to The Event Show at Olympia eager to check out any exciting new corporate events.

They got the lowdown on extreme skateboarding, sheep herding and drove around on Segways, which apparently are a great alternative to rage buggies! Amongst other things to catch their eyes were a headless waiter, perfect for serving at your guests but not driving them home, and a company offering to improve your workforce’s communication skills by helping them write and perform their own comedy show.

They got their hands on lots of brilliant freebies including a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation mask from M&L Ambulance Services which came in useful when Ian collapsed from excitement and stopped breathing.

Laser Mission is quasar laser without the annoying kids, paintball without the pain and war without the wounds, so we thought it was about time that we donned our combat fatigues and did a tour of duty.

Battles have been fought in some of the most uninhabitable places on Earth; the frozen wilds of Russia, the jungles of Vietnam and the deserts of the Middle East, but we opted for the tranquil surroundings of Dunchurch Park in Rugby.

The two Chillisauce superpowers- the Corporate and Stag teams- got decked out in their themed outfits and prepared for battle with a nice cup of tea and a bacon sandwich.

The Russians (the Corporate team of Tom, Ian, Ali and Isabel) and the US Army (the Stag team of Mike, Marika, Gavin and Alex) picked up their sophisticated infrared weapons and headed for opposite ends of the hotel’s gardens, getting some very strange looks from a group of golfers along the way.

The first battle went the way of the stags with Mike, sneakily hiding behind a privet hedge, picking off Russians at will as they attempted to raid the US base. The brilliantly gruesome ‘dying’ sound effects filled the air as the Russians were forced to surrender.

The teams regrouped and prepared for the next mission; the recovery of a nuclear weapon using radio detection equipment. The Russians found the weapon, but Ian and Tom (pictured, right) were blasted out of the game and Isabel and Ali had little hope against the numerically superior US troops as the boys went to recharge.

With the Russian team taking a battering, the instructors bent the rules by increasing the number of lives on their weapons and arming them with protective shields. The ‘cheating’ as it was later described paid dividends as Ali and Isabel managed to overpower Alex and Marika and take the helipad to win the third mission.

However, victory was bittersweet as the US/Stag team claimed the spoils of war from the day as a whole, winning 2-1, leaving Tom, Ian, Isabel and Ali to lick their virtual wounds.

Thanks to our friends at Hotel Russell, three of the Chillisauce team enjoyed the Premier League clash between Arsenal and Birmingham at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Tom, Ian and Paul were treated to complimentary food and drink throughout the afternoon which more than made up for a rather lacklustre match. In fact the drinks were going down so well that Chillisauce crew were still propping up the bar when Gary O’Connor headed in Birmingham’s equaliser just after half-time!

Congratulations to Corporate Fun Manager Ali who is now engaged to her long-term boyfriend Nick. He popped the question during their holiday in Barbados; how romantic!

The rest of the Chillisauce team are already shopping for new hats in anticipation of the big day.
