Christmas Nostalgia
Christmas has never quite been the same since our childhood days, when we left a glass of sherry out for Father Christmas and didn’t have to re-mortgage our houses to afford the yearly festivities.
Whilst in the midst of organising your Office Christmas parties this year, here at Chillisauce we ended up getting a but wistful over Christmas presents from the wonder years; our best, our worst, and the ones we always wanted but were never allowed. Read on for some Christmas nostalgia…
The Best Christmas Presents we ever received…
Steve – A Millennium Falcon; the Star Wars toy that never arrived when every 9 year old kid wanted it
Will - A drum kit I received when I was 6 and my parents regretted it for years after
Charlotte – A play kitchen I got to go in my Wendy house
Ian – Continuing the Star Wars theme, my favourite was an AT AT Walker
Claire - A pogo stick!
Suzy – Hungry Hippos, the noisiest game in the world – marbles were recovered from hidden places for years after
Isabel – I once got a bean bag and a TV – it was quite a generous Christmas that year – I do still have the TV though a good 15 or so years later…
Boris - A Barbie House!
The worst Christmas Presents we ever received…
Steve – A new brother…
Will – A dog whistle from my parents 3 years before I even thought of having a dog, and that was my only present.
Charlotte – a Care Bear as all I wanted was a doll that cried and wet its’ nappy that year!
Ian – a single, brown knitted glove, knitted by one of great Aunt’s (she’d run out of time to knit the other one)
Claire -I was expecting a TV and got 4 big Aztec design cushions, wrapped up in an old TV box
Suzy - a pair of kitchen scissors…?
Isabel - my great aunt once gave me and my sister a box of scrap paper each…. very weird!
Boris - Any time I got clothes – no kid wants clothes over toys. That’s just stupid!
The Christmas Presents we always wanted but were never allowed..
Steve – I always wanted a Toy Car to drive round in. All my friends had one but I didn’t!
Charlotte – I always wanted a soda stream but never got one
Ian – I always wanted a table football but my Dad wasn’t keen.
Claire – An ‘A La Carte Kitchen’ I finally got one when i graduated – thanks for that mum
Suzy - A soda stream and the Mr Frosty (must have some weird obsession with drinks??)
Isabel - screwball scramble and donkey kong – i must have had a thing about ball bearings!?
Boris – A life sized doll, I can now see why my mum thought it a bit creepy
